[Elegy on death of only son of Richard Smith, merchant.]
Fond Parents, cease to mourn and wail, the little cherub
cries,
My God, he calls, I must obey, thus bows his head and dies.
The winged Seraph, with pleasure waits his welcome soul to
guide
To realms of endless joys above, there forever to abide,
On golden harps to laud and sing, his infant voice to raise
In songs, triumphant, ever sung, to his Redeemer's praise.
